&lt;p&gt;FYI you can run GNOME applets in Xfce by using the xfce4-xfapplet-plugin: http://goodies.xfce.org/projects/panel-plugins/xfce4-xfapplet-plugin&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Not saying you should, but you can :)&lt;/p&gt;
